WHAT IS OREGON FIRE OPAL:

Oregon Fire Opal is a type of opal found in the United States, specifically in Oregon.
It is a semi-precious gemstone with a fiery, bright red, orange or even yellow coloration.
Oregon Opal forms inside of thunder eggs.
These thunder eggs occur in 'nests' or groupings, which are imbedded in Perlite.
Oregon Fire Opals are made up of silicon dioxide, just like all other types of opals.
The difference is in their unique red coloration, which is due to iron oxide in the stone. Oregon Fire Opals typically have a lower water content than other types of opals, making them less susceptible to cracking.
However, they can still be fragile and should be handled with care.
