This specific piece
The raw ruby retains the characteristic hexagonal crystalline structure of corundum. Unlike a faceted stone, here the copper embraces the crystal in its original state, leaving visible the natural terminations and color variations along the mineral's growth.
Each crystal is different: the color varies from pale pink to dark red depending on the chromium concentration. The ES size you select corresponds to the inner circumference of the copper band — each size has its own crystal.
Ruby in lapidary tradition
Ruby — a name derived from the Latin rubeus, red — is one of the four minerals considered gemstones, along with diamond, emerald, and sapphire. In medieval India, it was called ratnaraj, king of precious stones. 15th-century Burmese jewelers set it with the belief that it granted protection. Lapidary tradition associates it with vitality and determination.
The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural and historical traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.
Frequently asked questions
Is it genuine or synthetic ruby?
The ruby is natural, in its unprocessed crystalline form. No detectable treatment based on lapidary observation — the piece does not include formal gemological certification. Synthetic ruby has a more uniform color and an absence of visible natural inclusions.
How do I choose the correct size?
The ES size corresponds to the inner diameter of the band in millimeters. Please consult our size chart. Tolerances for handmade bands are ±0.5 mm relative to the indicated size.
Can copper stain the skin?
Copper can leave a slight green mark with prolonged wear — a natural chemical reaction of the metal. It can be removed with soap and water. We recommend removing the ring when in contact with water or sweat.
Is each ruby crystal different?
Yes. Each size variant has an individual crystal, with its own tone and terminations. The photograph is representative of the crystal type — the exact piece may vary in color intensity within the same range.
How do I care for this ring?
Keep away from chemicals, moisture, and abrasives. Copper may develop a green patina over time — this is natural and reversible. See jewelry care guide.
