What mounting it works for
-
Wire wrap — the side notches of the arrow naturally anchor the wire without the need for a bezel. Ideal for a pendant or statement ring.
-
Macramé — the weight and size (3-4 cm) make the arrow a powerful focal point in macramé necklaces or bracelets.
-
Tribal / ethnic jewelry — combinable with seed beads, leather, or oxidized metal.
Hyaline Quartz
Hyaline quartz (from Greek hyalos, "glass") is the perfectly transparent variety of quartz — without metallic impurities that would color it. The best-known deposits are in Brazil, Madagascar, and the Swiss Alps. In lapidary, it is the most used mineral for wire-wrap pieces due to its stable hardness and its ability to reflect the color of the metal that frames it.
The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose the piece I want?
Pieces are shipped randomly from the lot. If you need a specific shape or size, please write to us before purchasing, and we will arrange it.
Are the points sharp?
Yes. If you prefer a blunter end, fine sandpaper (600+ grit) is sufficient to smooth it.
Does the shape vary much between pieces?
All have a recognizable arrow silhouette, but the proportion (longer, wider, deeper or shallower notches) varies. It's part of the character of hand carving.
How do I know it's genuine quartz and not glass?
Natural quartz is colder to the initial touch than glass, and when examined with a magnifying glass, natural tubular inclusions appear. Industrial glass is absolutely homogeneous.
How do I care for it?
Quartz (7 Mohs) does not require special care. Clean with a soft cloth. More details on Jewelry Care.
