The Hoop design
The copper hoop accompanies the irregular geometry of the Tibetan quartz without attempting to dominate it. Unlike bezel settings, the hoop leaves the crystal exposed on its entire surface, showing the inclusions and natural texture of the mineral. The amethyst bead at the top activates the contrast between the gray of the quartz and the deep violet from Brazil.
This particular piece
The Tibetan crystal of this pendant features irregularly distributed dark inclusions — carbon or chlorite trapped during the crystal's growth under high-altitude conditions. This distribution of inclusions is unique to each piece and cannot be replicated.
The slightly rhomboidal hexagonal shape is reminiscent of raw quartz crystals themselves, giving the pendant an appearance close to its natural state despite the mounted finish.
Tibetan quartz in lapidary tradition
Tibetan quartz crystals come from high-altitude deposits on the Himalayan plateau, mainly in Tibet and bordering areas. Their dark mineral inclusions — chlorite, carbon, or iron minerals — are a recognizable geological origin marker. They have been used as talismans in Tibetan and Buddhist traditions for centuries. Tibetan quartz (anchoring and clarity) combined with amethyst (wisdom and tranquility) is a common pairing in intention jewelry. The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural and historical traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.
Frequently asked questions
How to care for this pendant?
Avoid prolonged contact with water and chemicals due to the copper. The quartz crystal resists daily use well. More information on jewelry care.
Are dark inclusions defects?
No — they are the geological signature of Himalayan origin. Each Tibetan crystal has a unique distribution of inclusions that makes it unrepeatable. The photos show exactly this crystal.
Can copper stain the skin?
Copper can leave a temporary green mark depending on personal pH. It is harmless and disappears with water. If you have copper sensitivity, consult before use.
What are the measurements?
The complete piece measures 46×31 mm with a tolerance of ±1 mm as it is a handcrafted piece. The leather cord measures 60 cm.
