The Luna design
The half-moon frame is one of the oldest formats in amulet jewelry: it protects the stone without concealing it. In this pendant, copper was electroformed over a base with arabesques, creating a warm, rough texture that contrasts with the vitreous luster of the labradorite. The four spheres on the lower arch visually anchor the piece and balance the optical weight of the stone.
This specific piece
The labradorite in this pendant displays broad-spectrum labradorite: the central flash is intense blue, with golden and violet bands appearing and disappearing depending on the angle of the light. This is a rare effect even among high-grade labradorites — most pieces only show one or two colors.
The teardrop shape was crafted to center the "eye" of the stone in the upper half of the cavity, where natural light falls most frequently when worn as a pendant.
Labradorite in lapidary tradition
Discovered on the Labrador Peninsula (Canada) in the 18th century, labradorite was quickly adopted by European lapidaries fascinated by its labradorite: an optical interference caused by alternating layers of silicate with different refractive indices. Full-spectrum labradorite — known as spectrolite in Finland — displays all the colors of the rainbow in a single stone. It is associated with intuitive clarity and transformation (labradorite and wisdom). The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural and historical traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I care for this pendant?
Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, and chemicals. Copper may develop a natural green patina over time; clean with a soft, dry cloth. More information on jewelry care.
Is the labradorescence the same in every piece?
No — labradorescence varies depending on the stone and the angle of light. The photos show this exact piece. Being a unique piece, the flash you see in the images is what you will receive.
Can copper stain skin?
Copper can leave a temporary green mark on the skin depending on personal pH, especially with heat or sweat. It is harmless and disappears with water. If you have copper sensitivity, consult before use.
What are the exact measurements?
The complete piece (moon + stone) measures 45×37 mm with a tolerance of ±1 mm as it is a handmade piece. The leather cord measures 60 cm.
