This specific piece

The crystal retains its elongated prismatic shape with a partially visible double termination: the upper tip remains free and the base is secured by the copper setting. Transparency is high, with inclusions and internal veils characteristic of natural quartz —nothing like the homogeneous appearance of glass—. Light passes through the crystal and generates internal flashes that vary with the angle.

The hammered copper arch is the main suspension element, with several turns of wire that secure the stone and add artisanal texture. The darkened copper patina creates a deliberate contrast with the luminosity of the quartz. The result is clean, minimalist, and full of character.

Technique: Copper Electroforming

In this piece, electroforming is combined with traditional wire wrapping, giving the setting a mixed character: the precision of the galvanic process and the manual texture of the wire. The copper deposits a thin, resistant layer that adapts to the natural irregularities of the crystal. With use, the patina evolves; a dry cloth after each use stabilizes it.

Hyaline quartz in tradition

Crystal quartz has been the reference mineral in optics, watchmaking, and goldsmithing for centuries. Its natural prismatic form —with hexagonal facets and pointed terminations— was described by medieval lapidaries as "petrified ice stone." In crystal tradition, it symbolizes clarity and amplification of intention.

Symbolic associations belong to cultural and historical traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I distinguish natural quartz from glass?

Natural quartz has inclusions, veils, or internal fractures visible under direct light. Glass is perfectly uniform and free of imperfections. Additionally, natural quartz remains cool to the touch —it retains ambient temperature—, while glass heats up quickly.

Can copper stain skin?

With continuous use, it can leave a slight greenish-gray mark on some people. It is not toxic —it is a natural chemical reaction between copper and sweat—. A transparent varnish on the metal completely prevents this.

Is it suitable as a gift for men?

Yes. The elongated prismatic design and the copper-crystal palette have a neutral and mineral aesthetic highly appreciated in contemporary men's jewelry. The black leather cord reinforces this character.
