Technique: Copper Electroforming
The setting for this teardrop was constructed using electroforming: copper is deposited in thin layers around the perimeter of the stone using electric current, creating a continuous bezel that embraces the jasper without visible seams or solder joints. The result is an organic setting of uniform thickness that precisely follows the contour of the stone, something that manual bezel setting hardly matches in contact precision.
This Specific Piece
The jasper presents at least four complete concentric orbs along the 63 mm length of the teardrop: white spheres on a cream background with gray-green halos and golden ocher lines marking the boundaries between growth cycles. The distribution of the orbs is dense and varied — no two areas are alike within the same stone.
The copper setting has a clean rose-bronze tone, without darkened patina: the metal frames without competing with the white and gold pattern of the jasper. The black leather cord adds a rustic closure consistent with the mineralogical character of the ensemble.
Orbicular Jasper in Lapidary Tradition
Orbicular jasper has been prized since antiquity for the concentric spheres that form its pattern, a result of the radial crystallization of silica over millions of years under high pressure. Roman lapidaries carved it into seals and cameos. Its circles are interpreted in mineral tradition as a symbol of cycles, wholeness, and grounding. It is also called ocean jasper due to its patterns reminiscent of an aerial view of the sea.
The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural and historical traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the jasper circles natural?
Completely natural. The orbs are geological structures formed during the crystallization of the mineral — not painted or artificially added. Each piece has a unique pattern determined by the conditions of its formation.
Can copper stain the skin?
With continuous use, it can leave a slight greenish-gray mark. It is not toxic — it is a natural reaction of copper with sweat. A transparent varnish over the metal prevents this.
What is the Ecos del Taller collection?
Original designer pieces from the Anima Mundi workshop not integrated into the main collections. Same artisanal quality, adjusted price because they are archive pieces. No structural defects.
