This particular piece

Porcelain jasper gets its name from the extremely fine texture of the mineral paste: no visible grain under magnification, with a finish reminiscent of fired porcelain. The cream-beige-mauve tones are uniform, with no darker areas or spots. Their chromatic neutrality makes them versatile with any metal.

What setting it works for

  • Bezel setting in 925 silver or gold — The cream-beige neutrality works equally well with silver, oxidized silver, or gold plating; porcelain jasper rarely "clashes" with metal.
  • Minimalist rings — The 17-20 mm formats provide presence without dominating the design.
  • Wire wrap — Easy to work with; the edgeless surface does not retain wire.

Jasper in lapidary tradition

Jasper has been one of the most widespread lapidary stones since antiquity: it appears in Mesopotamian seals, Egyptian amulets, and the priestly pectorals described in Exodus. Ultrafine texture porcelain jasper was especially valued in periods when perfect polishing was a sign of the lapidary's technical mastery.

The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What distinguishes porcelain jasper from regular jasper?

The term "porcelain" describes the microscopic grain of the rock: in porcelain jasper, the texture is so fine that it appears as opaque glass under magnification. This gives it a more uniform polish and a "cleaner" look than common jasper.

Is it durable enough for rings?

With 6.5-7 Mohs, it is more durable than most minerals. It can be used in rings with a bezel that protects the edge.

Is it treated or dyed?

No detectable treatment. The color is natural. Declaration based on lapidary observation; no formal gemological certification.

Are the pieces calibrated?

No. They are free forms with approximate dimensions indicated by variant (±0.5 mm). Each piece has its own unique silhouette.

How to care for it?

Jasper tolerates water and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners. More information in our care guide.
