Butterfly pendant crafted using copper electroforming technique. An oval labradorite occupies the central body; the wings show embossed veins with a dark copper-black patina. The blue-green flash of the labradorite responds to every movement of the piece. Available in the Ecos del Taller collection at an outlet price.

This Specific Piece
The wings were built on an organic mold: electroforming deposits copper in thin layers that capture the wing venation with a detail that conventional casting cannot reproduce. The black patina on the copper is a result of the oxidative process, not an applied finish.
The labradorite was selected for its frontal flash: from the front, the blue-teal glimmer is direct without the need for a special angle.
Technique: Copper Electroforming
Electroforming deposits metallic copper onto an object submerged in an electrolytic bath. It preserves very fine textures and organic shapes that could not be demolded. Subsequent oxidation — black and brown tones — is an intrinsic part of the finish.

Labradorite in Lapidary Tradition
Identified on the Labrador Peninsula (Canada) in 1770, labradorite owes its optical effect — labradorescence — to alternating layers of feldspar with different compositions that interfere with visible light. 19th-century Scandinavian collectors compared the phenomenon to the aurora borealis and called it "schiller".
In crystal tradition, labradorite is associated with intuition and moments of cyclical change — the stone that accompanies transitions.
The symbolic properties of minerals belong to cultural traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can copper stain the skin?
With prolonged use, copper can leave a slight greenish mark due to reaction with sweat. No health implications. If your skin is sensitive to copper, try short-term use first.
Is the labradorite flash a treatment?
No. Labradorescence is a structural optical property: light interference between internal layers of feldspar. It is not a coating or dye. No detectable treatment.
How do I care for the jewelry?
Copper: dry cloth, no water or perfumes. Store in a zip bag. See: jewelry care.
