This specific piece

The flash of this labradorite is predominantly golden-yellow with a high-saturation horizontal band and blue reflections at the edges. Labradorescence—the optical effect that gives it its name—is activated even with soft light and varies in tone as the angle changes.

The copper bezel encases the stone with a characteristic rough texture from electroforming. The outer surface of the copper shows the irregular relief typical of the process, unpolished, providing visual contrast with the smooth surface of the labradorite.

About copper electroforming

Electroforming deposits copper onto a model using electrolysis. Unlike casting, it does not subject the mineral to heat, making it ideal for labradorites sensitive to thermal changes. The organic texture of the metal is a direct result of the electrochemical process, not subsequent embossing.
