  • Macrame — spines add visual dynamism to necklaces and earrings, especially in boho and ethnic designs.
  • Tribal / ethnic jewelry — combine with seed beads, wood, and bone for native or African-inspired creations.
  • DIY jewelry — 1 mm hole compatible with 0.8-1 mm nylon thread, fine jewelry wire, or rattail cord.

About mother-of-pearl

Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent inner layer secreted by bivalve mollusks — oysters, mussels, and abalones — to coat their shell. This microscopic layered structure of aragonite produces the material's characteristic iridescence. In its natural state, it has a beige-white or creamy color. The orange color of these pieces is obtained through synthetic dye: the material is natural, the color is not. We always declare applied treatments.

Frequently asked questions

Is the dye durable?

Stable under normal use. It may fade slightly with prolonged exposure to sun or water. Store in a dry place away from direct light.

Are they all the same size?

Approximately 30×19 mm with natural variation of ±2-3 mm between pieces. The spine silhouette is consistent across all.

Does the hole support jewelry wire?

Yes. The 1 mm hole accepts 0.6-0.8 mm wire. For 1 mm wire, it may require slight enlargement with a 1.2 mm drill bit.

How many pieces will I receive?

11 orange mother-of-pearl spines per order.

How do I care for them?

Avoid prolonged contact with water and direct sun. Clean with a soft, dry cloth. See Care for your jewelry.
