The Monedita Design
The Monedita is a minimalist pendant format: a small mineral disc — 16 × 13 mm — set in a 925 silver bezel with an integrated bail for the chain. The proportion is designed so that the stone is the sole protagonist: no additional decorative frames, no elements that compete with the color or pattern of the mineral. The bezel holds the stone with full perimeter contact, protecting the edge without the need for prongs that interrupt the view of the mineral.
Citrine
Citrine is the yellow to golden-yellow variety of quartz (SiO₂). The vast majority of commercial citrine is heat-treated amethyst or smoky quartz: sustained heat transforms trivalent iron (Fe³⁺) into bivalent iron (Fe²⁺), changing the hue from violet or gray to golden-yellow. The result is stable and durable; the color does not revert with use or exposure to ambient temperature. Deposits of natural citrine — much rarer — are found mainly in Brazil and Madagascar. With 7 Mohs, it offers the same wear resistance as any quartz.
Citrine in Lapidary Tradition
The name derives from the Latin "citrus" (lemon) due to its characteristic coloration. It was popular in 17th-century Scottish jewelry and widely used during Art Deco. In crystal tradition, citrine (energy and mental clarity) is associated with initiative and the drive to make things happen.
The symbolic properties attributed to minerals belong to cultural and historical traditions. They are shared for educational purposes, not as medical advice or a substitute for professional care.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does this pendant take to arrive?
As it is a made-to-order piece, we need an additional 3-4 business days to craft it before shipping. This period is added to the usual shipping time. We will send you a notification when it is ready to ship.
Is the citrine treated?
Yes. Like most citrine on the market, this stone is heat-treated quartz — a standard, stable, and durable process. The color does not revert under normal use conditions. We declare this transparently in the specifications.
What chain is included?
A 45 cm stainless steel chain is included. If you prefer a 925 silver chain or a different length, please consult us before placing your order.
Are the dimensions exact?
16 × 13 × 3 mm (complete piece with bezel). As it is handcrafted, there may be a variation of ±0.5 mm in any dimension.
Can I order several Moneditas of different minerals?
Yes. Each mineral is available as a separate product. There is also the Monedita Pendant · 5 Minerals if you prefer them all together in one order.
How do I care for it?
Avoid contact with perfumes, creams, and chlorine. Store in an individual pouch or case. Consult our complete jewelry care guide.
